We are so excited to share this year’s honey harvest with you because it was truly one for the books. Michigan had a huge basswood flow this season, the kind of flow beekeepers dream about, and it gave this honey a strong basswood character mixed with the wildflowers growing around our apiaries. Basswood is personally my favorite honey because it’s bright, floral, smooth, and incredibly good on just about everything.
This 16 ounce jar is the perfect size for trying our honey for the first time, keeping on the kitchen counter, or giving as a gift. It comes straight from our Michigan hives and is packed in a wide mouth glass jar so you can enjoy every last drop. Our honey is never heated above 120°F or ultra filtered, allowing it to retain its naturally occurring pollen, aroma, and the unique flavor created by the flowers our bees visited.
I use this honey in my oatmeal and tea almost every morning, but you can also blend it into smoothies, drizzle it over toast, yogurt, biscuits, or bagels, or substitute it for processed sugar in cooking and baking. It’s such an easy and delicious way to use a more natural sweetener in the foods you already love.
Because this is real, minimally processed honey, it may arrive completely liquid, partially crystallized, or fully crystallized depending on the time of year. That’s completely natural! We personally love crystallized honey spread over toast, but if you prefer it liquid, simply place the jar in warm water and let it gently warm back up.
